The heat wave heating, also known as radiant heating, uses in contrast to conventional heating neither gas nor other fuels, but electricity. A further characteristic of heating is the form of heat distribution, which instead of air convection uses radiant heat, which is similar to the energy of the sun. Basically, it is a more direct form of heating, as it does not heat the air in the room, but objects and living beings in direct reach through the radiation.
Due to the direct heat radiation, the air in the room is heated at the same time, but is not used as a carrier, which increases the application possibilities many times over. The functionality also includes simple installation, as it does not require any real installation. Due to the use of electrical energy, the heat wave heating is operated via a socket or electrical cable and can therefore be connected without any knowledge of installation technology. Another variant is glass heating, which uses another system for heating. One square metre should be supplied with about 50 – 60 watts, with 60 – 70 watts recommended, as not all rooms, for example in multi-family blocks, are sufficiently insulated. The higher the wattage, the safer option is chosen. Who wants to use it in the bath, should count against it with 70 to 100 Watts, since only so the desired well-being feeling temperature of humans can be achieved. In general, it is not possible to obtain any real information about the electricity consumption of the heating system, since three factors are decisive for the price determination. Firstly, there are the individual rooms with their required wattage and the operating time in which the heating is used. Depending on the room, this varies from one hour to the whole day. These values are combined and charged with the electricity price. If, for example, only a living room with 850 Watt is heated eight hours a day at a price of 0.19 Euro, the daily consumption is 6.8 kWh, which corresponds to about 1.3 Euro per day and about 232 Euro per year. Depending on the infrastructure of the building, however, the values can change considerably. Who has a solid brickwork, not too low outside temperatures and a strong insulation, can count on lower costs, since the warmth is stored better.
The most striking feature of a heat wave heater is its simple use, since only one socket is required for installation and, depending on the position of the heater, some simple tools such as a drill are required. Since it is supplied with the necessary energy by electricity, it only needs to be switched on after installation and heats the room within a few moments. The heater should not be touched during operation, as it can reach 80°C. Especially children should be kept away from them. The desired output is simply set via the individual levers and the heat is oriented to the stage and the set wattage. The higher the wattage, the more energy is used and the warmer the heating.

Who wants to change to a heat wave heating, should consider some performance characteristics with the selection. The most important characteristic here is the wattage, which is important for the selection of the heater. The voltage must be taken into account. 230 Volts are the typical value for Germany and no other should be used. In order to ensure safety during operation, some safety features, so-called degrees of protection, should be provided. These include IP 40, which stands for a connection via the plug, IP 65 for the fixed connection. Splash-proof heaters are provided with IP 24, while IP X0 stands for no water protection. Too much power in one place can quickly become too hot. Furthermore, it is important to use high-quality models, otherwise there is a risk of fire due to poor manufacturing.
